Ate
what it means
Often extended to "ate and left no crumbs", meaning the performance was so complete there was nothing left to critique.
Performed exceptionally well — "she ate" means she absolutely nailed it.
the origin story
Black drag and ballroom culture, where "ate" as praise long predates its internet spread. It became mainstream on Twitter and TikTok around 2021.
"Left no crumbs" became the signature extension and got heavily memed, including deliberate misuse on things like a plain slice of bread. It largely replaced "slay" as the default performance compliment in stan communities.
in the wild
That live vocal though.
She ate and left no crumbs.
