Crash Out
what it means
A crashout is a self-destructive spiral, not just a bad mood. "I'm about to crash out" warns that you're close to doing something you'll regret.
To lose control emotionally and do something reckless as a result.
the origin story
AAVE, where crashing out meant acting recklessly or ruining your own situation. It spread widely through TikTok and rap in 2023-2024.
It became one of the defining emotional-vocabulary words of 2024, alongside "locked in" as its opposite. "Crashout" as a noun for the person doing it followed, and the phrase now covers everything from quitting a job dramatically to texting an ex.
