Yeet
what it means
Works as a verb, an interjection and a general expression of enthusiasm. Its past tense is contested — "yeeted" and "yote" both circulate, mostly as a joke.
To throw something with force, or an exclamation shouted while doing it.
the origin story
A 2014 Vine dance, which spread the word before its throwing sense became dominant. It was already present in AAVE as an exclamation.
It survived the death of Vine and became one of the few 2010s meme words to stay in ordinary spoken use. By the 2020s it read as slightly dated, which is exactly why it is now used affectionately and ironically.
