A bop is fun rather than profound. Calling a song a bop is a compliment about its immediate appeal, not its depth — which is sometimes used as a subtle dig.

Long-standing music slang, sharpened in the 2010s by pop stan communities on Twitter and Tumblr.
Stan culture built a whole vocabulary around it: "bop after bop" for a strong album, and "that's a bop" as the standard defence of a guilty-pleasure track. It has a slang homograph with a very different meaning, so context matters.
