Fit Check
what it means
A whole content format: stand in front of a mirror, name the pieces, post it. "Fit" is short for outfit, and the "check" is the invitation to judge.
Showing off your outfit, or asking others to rate it.
the origin story
Streetwear communities on Instagram and Reddit in the late 2010s, then a standard TikTok video format from 2020.
It became one of the most reliable formats on short-form video, spawning sub-genres like "fit check but it's my work uniform" and "fit check, thrifted only". The phrase now also works verbally, as a request to see what someone is wearing.

The layering is insane.
