Ohio
what it means
"Only in Ohio" captions bizarre content. The joke has no logic behind it, which younger users will tell you is exactly the point.
A shorthand for anything strange, cursed or absurd — nothing to do with the actual state.
the origin story
Grew from a long-running Twitter joke about strange things happening in Ohio, amplified massively by TikTok and Gen Alpha from 2022.
The original tweets were mildly surreal observations about the state. Gen Alpha stripped out the reasoning and kept the word, so "Ohio" now works as a free-floating adjective for weirdness — "that's so Ohio" needs no Ohio involved.
