Poker vocabulary, itself from pinball machines that penalise players for tilting the table; adopted by esports in the 2000s.
It's one of the few pieces of gaming vocabulary with genuine psychological substance behind it, and professional esports teams employ coaches specifically to manage it. "Tilt queueing" — continuing to play while tilted — is universally recognised as a mistake and universally done anyway.
