the origin story
AAVE, popularised through Black Twitter and drag culture in the 2010s; the extended "unbothered, moisturised" phrasing spread from around 2018.
The long form — "unbothered, moisturised, happy, in my lane, focused, flourishing" — became a widely quoted mantra and appeared on merchandise. The irony of loudly declaring how unbothered you are is well understood by everyone using it.
