Named after backseat driving. In streaming it's a recognised nuisance, and many streamers have explicit chat rules against it.

By analogy with "backseat driving"; became standard streaming vocabulary as Twitch grew through the 2010s.
It became one of the most common moderation issues on gaming streams, since a chat of thousands all offering advice is unmanageable even when well-intentioned. "No backseating" is now a standard line in stream rules.
